I want to make a zine about my cats. My parents adopted a new cat today named Pudge. I already have two cats named Baby Dallas and Milkshake. I want to create a narrative about Pudge being introduced into our home and something that communicates how much I love him as well as my other cats!! I want this zine to have a similar style to a children's storybook that has a lot of illustration-style artwork and heavy use of primary colors. I would also like to maybe include some pop-up elements because I feel like that will communicate the storybook vibe effectively. I will also be taking inspiration from the album "Songs" by Adrianne Lenker, and possibly using some of lyrics from that album while keeping the amount of text used in my project to a minimum. The album is very special to me and uses a lot of themes that I would like to include in my zine. I would like to include heavy themes of nature, botanical elements, space and stars, and magic. The narrative of the zine will basically be my cats doing a bunch of interesting stuff (playing outside, being wizards, wearing pajamas, dancing to music, etc)
I am planning on binding this zine with ribbon because it is about something sweet and precious, and I really loved that idea when it was used in other students zines.
I am also planning to make this zine a quarter sheet size because it is telling a story about something small and cute.
Here are some inspiration pics (not my
artwork!!)
*For the digital drawing portion of the project, I would like to use some textured brushes that have an oil pastel/chalk pastel appearance.
*I would like to use some 3d elements like cutouts, dried flowers, charms, ribbons, etc. if possible.
