Artist Statement
This project was the most difficult for me so far in this class. It was hard to get a substantial amount of animation done since each small clip takes so long. Overall, I am pretty happy with my animation, but I think that I would need a lot more practice before being able to make something more serious/professional. I also would have liked to get some more experience with frame-by-frame animation in Animate CC, but I knew that I would not have enough time to make an animation that met the time requirements with that software since I am so unfamiliar with it. My favorite part of this project was being able to overlay greenscreen effects and add audio effects, because I feel like it really helped the final product come together and feel more complete. I had a great time filming the real life scenes with my boyfriend and our friend Corbin, and I liked being able to come up with a storyline to act out since I enjoy making comics in my free time. I also felt like my choice to do a drug trip as the daydream part worked well in my favor because it was okay for the scenes to feel disjointed/chaotic at times. If I were to make an animation with a different premise, this is definitely something I would need to work on since my biggest gripe with how my animation came out is that it does not feel very connected throughout all of the clips. Overall, I would love to get more experience with animation and learn more about this software when there are no time constraints and I really enjoyed what I was able to get done in this amount of time.
