For this project, I am thinking of basing my animation on a drug trip-related experience. I know that we talked about this in class, and it has been done before, but I want to give my animation an interesting twist that has not been used before. Instead of actually taking pills, my characters will be eating insects that look like pills, and the trip that occurs afterwards will be completely based around insects. I want to use this idea because I have lots of insects as pets at my house that I think would make interesting props. I also think that this would be a unique and interesting way to revitalize a tired concept that many viewers are already familiar with. I plan to have my real recorded clips feature real insects as props (my isopods and hissing cockroaches) and the animated clips to have psychedelic, surrealist themes with lots of drawings and clips of insects included. My initial plans for this project were to animate the entire thing by hand using Animate CC, but after coming to terms with how much time we will have to complete this project, and seeing that complete hand animation did not work out well for other students from previous classes, I have decided to make my animation scenes represent a more fragmented reality with several different styles of animation including Animate CC and After Affects. I think that this concept will still work since the animation will be depicting a drug-related experience and the protagonist's perception of time and reality may not realistically be very linear or predictable.Â
